I found that Randall’s in Houston has these vending machines and the code thanks worked yesterday.
April 15th, 2007 at 7:25 pm
GREAT! Try those other codes and then use different credit cards for each code. Have fun. Randall’s in Houston is probably the highest priced grocery store and so that is why they have the DVDPlay machines which are higher priced movie rentals per night if you don’t use codes. Good Luck.
April 26th, 2007 at 9:16 pm
Can you use codes more than once? Also how do you find the codes? I have only recieved receipts never a code?
Thanks in advance, neewbie that hopes to contribute
April 27th, 2007 at 8:30 am
Most codes you can only use once per credit card. There may be other special offers, but that is generally how it works.
How do you find the codes? You come to this website, of course!
Oh, and you can simply ask around when you are renting, or try different codes just to see if they work.
Welcome, Lucy!

Hi-
Just started using codes the other day… got 2 of them from coupons at the Safeway check-out here in San Jose, CA (FREED and 50OFF). They have expiration dates of 8/26/07 and 7/31/07 respectively.
Have fun!
August 2nd, 2007 at 4:53 pm
Use your promo codes wisely. I think they work only once per credit card. I’ve had luck with Play, Free1 & Freed in Ventura Ca at Vons. But only once per code.

Hi,
I had a question. When I go to kiosk, select a movie, then enter a free DVD - it then gives me a value of zero. But then it asks me to slide my credit card, will they charge anything onto it??? Or is the movie free for real?
September 17th, 2007 at 5:40 pm
I just received a promo code valid through Monday, Sept 24 for 75 cents off. The code is SEP24. Haven’t tried it. Here’s the link:
http://www.dvdplay.com/deal
September 17th, 2007 at 6:40 pm
I’ve tryied in Calgary DVD123 and THANKS and they worked once and then, after recognizing me from credit card, refuzed the codes. But next week they worked again. Good. Thanks everyone. Can be Alberta added up to the States/Provinces list?!?
September 17th, 2007 at 7:06 pm
1. Even the charge is $0, DVDPlay still asks for credit card in case you took the DVD and ran away, late return…
and of course, to send a mail to you as a record.
2. I also got the SPE24 (valid until 9/24) promotion code from DVDPlay.
3. EMZ63D worked for me on 9/15 and 9/16 (Free rental, not cents off) in South bay, CA.
September 27th, 2007 at 11:00 am
Would it be possible to add a column for what the deal is, e.g. “FREE DVD”, “$.50 DISCOUNT”, etc?
October 1st, 2007 at 5:29 pm
hi ive only got a free one when i wrote them about a scratched one (at least from e-mail)the only reason im not totally broke is thanks to you guys helping me here and there, im getting about 1 free every 10-20 if your codes dont tell me wrong time, wrong place, etc…
hhhheeeellllpppppp!

My local Vons just started renting videogames also. Some good title too. They had Halo 3 and some Wii games and xbox 360 games. I tried a DVD code and it gave me $1.49 off so I’m guessing a hefty discount code like DVD88 would work. The regular price was $5 for four days.
October 19th, 2007 at 1:08 pm
hey all thanks for the freebies
October 23rd, 2007 at 7:09 pm
Just so you guys know, these codes are area specific and once published, expires in 10-14 days depending on the area.
So not all codes will work everywhere you try it. I work for GemNet industries, the company that owns DVDPlay and I publish most of the codes you see here on this website.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:57 pm
Then I want to say millions thank you, CC!!!
October 25th, 2007 at 3:35 pm
CC: Thanks for the codes! One question though, since you are an insider in the company, does the company prohibit this, or are they cool with what you’re doing? Just askin’ because I haven’t paid for one rental in a long time since I’ve discovered this site.
October 25th, 2007 at 11:25 pm
CC, I’d like to thank you also! When I’m at the kiosk, I have someone ask me about using it about half the time. I think people are intimated and scared, so I can tell them how easy it is.
Again, thank you so very much CC! You are a real sweetie for doing this.
Sue
November 14th, 2007 at 12:19 pm
I believed the code can be applied to your CC only once.
November 14th, 2007 at 12:56 pm
All the codes that begin ‘EM’ are those generated from the free movie one receives when they enter their email address on dvdplay’s website. They expire about a week after someone gets the return email. Thought this might clear up some confusion.
November 14th, 2007 at 5:37 pm
ok so basically you could only use any codes once on a cc rite? you cant use a different codes for the same CC correct?
November 15th, 2007 at 10:31 am
It depends. ‘Fifty’ can be used as many times with same CC until the end of the year. ‘Thanks’ or ‘Play’ can be used only one time per CC. Lastly, if you get a code for renting ten DVDs via email (i.e 55555) the code is good for only one transaction total. Make sense at all?
November 17th, 2007 at 4:02 pm
Same DVDPlay machine, one is in PW supermarket, the other one is at Safeway, San Jose, CA. PW is $1.99/DVD, safeway is $1.49/DVD. How strange!! Stores are less than 1/2 mile apart.
And the codes, I picked few of them to enter at PW, none of them was taken. Safeway’s is.
November 28th, 2007 at 1:45 am
Hey PowerSamurai,
The 5-digit code, for example, 84590 as listed above, can it be used to different CC? Or whoever uses it first will be accepted? In another thought, can I try it by entering from 84000 to 85000 (if I do have much time available) and see if I can get a free DVD by luck?
December 2nd, 2007 at 10:18 pm
Here’s a tip - if your local DVDPlay kiosk is currently not working, tell them at their website (dvdplay.com), and they will send you a unique code (which can only be used once) for a free rental.

Is it once you have used a code, you can not use the same code again? Do they keep a track of codes used associating with your card number or email id?
January 12th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
thanks i will try these tomorrow from other sites i got new year and oops and to answer your ? you can use the same code again if it hasn’t expired AND ON A different card
February 17th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Time to use “redbox” the codes are working at lucky
February 27th, 2008 at 11:21 am
I received a broken movie from DVD Play vending machine. How to I get compensated for paying for a movie I cannot watch?
February 27th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Call the toll free number and press 3. They will credit it back to your CC. I did it once.
February 27th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Thank you Big Mac
March 11th, 2008 at 7:29 am
What happened to the codes? Yesterday when I checked there were about half a dozen.
March 22nd, 2008 at 9:40 am
Sorry… Codes were down for a few days and I didn’t notice.
All should be well now, though.
April 2nd, 2008 at 2:30 pm
What did we do before the internet? This is a trick question. I think I am showing my age. (we had sex and read books, cause there was no TV)
April 4th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
I just got my cc bill and was charged for all 16 movies I had rented in the past weeks. When I used the promo codes from this cool webpage the dvdplay box said $0 charge.
I looked at my bill further to make sure the charges werent zeroed out at the bottom; but still charged. Any one else only getting their one first movie free? Yes I used the same c card every time. Doesnt everyone?
April 4th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
I doubl checked my CC statement and unbilled activities, no, I was not charged.
April 7th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
dude, each promo code per each credit card.
April 8th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Well, I guess I’m done with this scam. How many cc’s can anyone have? 3 or 4? These movies only cost a $1.50. If you can only get one movie w one c card; then big whoop. Wow, I saved SIX whole dollars!! (if I had 4 c cards)
I just don’t understand why the machine said the code worked each time and the ttl. was $0. Whatever.
April 8th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
The code is valid but can only be used one time per credit card. When you select a movie you enter the code and then continue to payment options. When you swipe your card, it will go OOPS!, if you have used that card before.
April 28th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
I really wish people would stop saying the code is for a free rental when it is only for cents off. It would be nice to know what the codes actually do before we get there.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
there is no filed we can select. By default, it takes every code as “free rental”.
May 21st, 2008 at 5:27 pm
Why do codes not work at PW supermarkets like the way they do at Safeways?
May 22nd, 2008 at 11:38 pm
‘Cause rent at PW charged you $1.99 while it’s $1.49 at Safeway!
May 29th, 2008 at 5:59 am
Great Site - Here is a suggestion. Many of the DVDPlay codes are not for Free DVDs but are for a discount. It would be nice to be able to specify the type of code - free, discount, etc.
June 13th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
Check for weekly specials at DVDPlay website
http://www.dvdplay.com/promotions/weekly-specials.html
Otherwise, use PromoCode MAY95 for 95¢ DVD rental
or SODA for 50¢ off
June 20th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
What a cheap skate, personally I want to keep it going. I rent one when I get a free one. Unless you’re a kid you understand why.
June 27th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Can someone reply regarding where to find
free rental promo codes?
Can you reply how where you found your
free rental promo codes.
Thanks
June 28th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
rUDy -
I signed up on the DVDPLAY website, and they emailed me the free code.
June 29th, 2008 at 11:55 am
I live in MD.,the dvdplay boxes are located in safeway super markets. For the past month none of the codes work, they use to but not now. What is the problem, is it the codes or is it the boxes in MD.?
July 21st, 2008 at 8:04 am
do you know of any prepay or debit cards work at dvdplay
July 21st, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Debit cards work the same as credit cards.
July 24th, 2008 at 7:27 am
This site needs some work. I think everyone should enjoy this now, because Redbox has taken over. They are now in Walmarts, McDonalds, and Walgreens. If you don’t have one of those within a mile, you live in farm country. DVDplay screwed themselves. Redbox free codes, DVDplay 53cents, why pay anything when you can get it for free? Plus, these codes are junk. By all means compare the codes from redbox and dvdplay.
July 25th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
DVDplay has movies that redbox doesn’t have. Their discs are also in better condition than Redbox’s. I hope they make it.
July 26th, 2008 at 8:40 am
redbox takes prepay debit and credit cards dvdplay does not ,rebox $1 dvdplay $1.49 i go to rebox first
August 2nd, 2008 at 2:02 pm
I appreciate the codes very much…. The only problem is that the DVDPLAY
August 2nd, 2008 at 2:05 pm
(sorry) I hit the wrong letter and it was sent unfinished….. the only problem is that the DVDPLAY here in Newtown, PA doesn’t fill the kiosk with the newest movies out. It shows on the board nest to it what will be available, but they don’t put them in…. I’ve called the rep at DVDPLAY and mentioned it to her and I think that’s the farthest it went. I ride over there and the newest available DVD’s aren’t offered…
August 8th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Dear Michael,
Where are you now? Are you OK?
No more codes from you? Is DVDPLAY giving youa hard tiem?
August 9th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
I want to take over this site. I am tired of wasting my time at the machine with this crap codes. I mean sure i save a few pennies but this wasting of my time is crazy!
August 9th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Thank you, Michael Phelps!

August 13th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
“Michael” is the person who posted (generated) the codes. I think he mentioned before that he works for DVDPlay. Don’t know why he is not coming back here…
August 14th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
I think DVDPLAY got smart and started using one code at a time for everyone instead of generating unique codes. They are obviously aware of the misuse of the codes and are working to stop it.
August 14th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
DVDPLAY sucks and i will not rent there anymore, now there customer service isn’t even friendly. i thought they might be a level above there competition when it came to easy, friendly, and affordable service. looks as though they are doing the opposite of that now and have let greed take over. i am now a Redbox customer. Go Redbox!!!
August 16th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
(Michigan) I received a survey invitation via e-mail. I completed the survey and voila, I was presented with a promo code for a free rental: KRO814

August 21st, 2008 at 9:51 pm
VOLLEY
Thanks to Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treano!
They defended their gold medal in women’s beach volleyball which means you get a 1-day FREE DVD rental on us! Simply enter PromoCode VOLLEY at the kiosk checkout screen to get your 1-day FREE rental. But you better act fast; this special offer is only valid on Friday, August 22, 2008.
August 22nd, 2008 at 12:52 pm
I am so disappointed….. I cannot get anymore free promo rentals….. My card won’t work, so I called and was put on hold for 6 min. the first time and 4 min. the second time and was finally told that I used the promos too often. Excuse me, but why wouldn’t I use a promo code if I’m fortunate enough to receive one??? The rep told me I could not use a promo code anymore……. “so I told her, thanks for nothing and I will be visiting Redbox from now on……….. so, bye bye dvdplay!!!
August 22nd, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Hey Mixed mama,
I am shocked to learn such infomration…, I use promo codes most of time, pay few times only…, does it mean I will be the next? ;>)
August 25th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
LOOKS LIKE NO SHERIFF PATROLLING THIS WEB SITE LICK UR NUTTS AND PISS ON UR ARSE ARE NOT CODES LOL
August 26th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Sorry for being away for awhile everyone. Been busy on some other projects.
Thanks to Big Mac and others who help keep things clean around here and updated with new codes.
BTW, I do not work for DVDPlay. Just created this site as a sister site to my InsideRedbox.com site.
August 27th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Hi, DVDPlay sent me a promo code for a free rental, because I had rented 10 (per their new promotion).
When I went to use the code they emailed me, it didn’t work, so I emailed them.
I got a pretty snarky email back that “as a one time courtesy” they issued me a new code. Unbelievable!
Also, their selection has gone down. It was a great concept in the beginning, but I think we’re done with DVDPlay.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Does anyone know why dvdplay charges tax and redbox does not?
September 1st, 2008 at 12:40 am
We were shopping at Safeway in N. CA and glad to receive a printout when we checked out…, a code from DVDPLAY, XJTF9Y. So happy…, but soon we learn the bad news when read the fine print, it expires on Aug 31, 2008.
It was about 7:30 pm, evening on Aug 31. Darn…, a code valids only for few hours?
September 10th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
u dont have 2 rent one in order 2 get one free well at least not in houston tx. hope we get some codes 4 fri.and sat. while we BUCKLE UP 4 IKE !!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WILL BE A GOOD TIME 2 STAY INDOORS!and enjoy some free movies!thats if we still have power.
September 14th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
This site is pretty useless anymore. Thought i would check in one more time. This will be my final visit here. Dvdplay has a horrible selection of movies. When they stock the machine here in southern oregon, its usually old movies. Dumb. See ya!
September 16th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Sweet. Yeah Louise, code worked for only one rental.
September 18th, 2008 at 11:45 am
Bummer, the rent one get one code actually only works for one rental now. I spoke with someone in their customer service and they informed me they have the ability to turn the ‘muliple use function on and off.’ Oh well, i suppose 2 movies for 1.49 is still not bad.
September 18th, 2008 at 11:47 am
I’m sad that people are losing faith in DVDPlay, especially for comments like “it’s usually old movies. Dumb”. I like the fact that they stock older catalogue movies that I wasn’t able to see the first time around . It’s not like the industry really has any choice because they are beholden to the movie industry. I mean come on, they usually have movies that big red doesn’t have, doesn’t that count for something?
September 18th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
I just found a promo code posted in the Milk section in my kroger store. The offer was for a rent one movie get one free from DVDPlay with promo code UdeppudI. I could not belive it i just rented 4 movies for $3. I gave the code to the cute girl behind me and she did the same i am not sure how long it is valid for but just wanted to pass on the free movie to the rest of you. I am going watch 88 minutes.
September 22nd, 2008 at 9:26 am
Hey guys, did you know DVDPlay has Get Smart (TOS)? I watched disc 1. It was totally cool. I didn’t know the pilot episode was in b&w.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:09 am
Hey,
Last night I got Run, Fatboy, Run from DVDPlay. It was in stock and easy to get (no waiting). I really liked the way the video gave me the choice to view it in Widescreen or Fullscreen. It was British humor. It was okay.
September 29th, 2008 at 10:13 am
Sweet. DVDPlay has dropped it’s price to $1. http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/080929/20080929005475.html?.v=1
October 4th, 2008 at 1:49 am
one thing puzzles me often is the fake codes listed here. why people want to do that? and Michael, please clean up those have been out-of-date. Codes older than two months probably lose the creditability already.
October 4th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Anyone knows if any of these codes work in the DVDplay kiosks in Alberta, or any similar website which has these codes for Canada. txs…
October 10th, 2008 at 9:07 am
it happenned to me many times before, when i checkout it says 0 dollars charged to my account, but when i get my credit card bill i see charges!!
October 10th, 2008 at 10:46 am
Chan - did you keep the dvd longer than a day? This is the only thing i can think of that would allow your cc to be charged
October 21st, 2008 at 7:31 pm
FYI,
For the promo code “HULK” you need to select 2 dvd rental then enter the “HULK” promo code for the 2for1 dvd rental.
October 28th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
It’s funny that someone simply can type in any name they want. Who cares if someone steals your name, or my name. It is no big deal. Take all postings with a grain of salt. Michael does not care about this room. It is never moderated and the posts sit forever. Emails are required. Michael could see who is who and even post there real email after it is verified to stop all this but he doesn’t. So let whomever is doing it have his or her fun. They live a sad life and perhaps this brings joy to it. Go Sharks 22! Or so post #1 states.
October 28th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Sorry about the joker that is posing as others here…
Yes, I can see who is doing all of the impersonating, but they are just using fake email addresses.
Unfortunately, like John said, anyone can use any name they like. The only way I can police this is require that everyone who comments be logged in.
I will go ahead and mark the fake posts above so you can all see which posts were from the impersonator.
It is unfortunate that someone thinks they are funny doing this, but some people are just idiots, you know?

I just went ahead and marked all of the comments made by the same person, who was impersonating others…
There are some other suspicious comments as well, and I will be keeping an eye on them, too.

I would have absolutely no problem with “logging in” as a requirement to post. Thanks for responding. I take back that you do not care about this room.

DVD Play customer service provided no resolution to an outdated listing for a kiosk location at Albertsons on Ray Road in Phoenix, Arizona. Do not waste your time or gas money trying to return to this site. Do not bother talking to “Christina” at DVD Play’s customer service. She is rude and does not resolve customer issues, but is excellent at finding fault with loyal customer complaints.

Rented a bad DVD from DVDplay. It took 8 emails
and a week to get it resolved. Wonder how many
people rented that DVD or even if they removed it.
There customer service is getting worse.

November 24th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Waste of time now. Rarely do I get a code that works anymore.
November 25th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Why is everyone so obsessed with free or mostly just discounted dvd’s? come on, they cost only a buck. That is a great bargain in itself right there.
November 26th, 2008 at 1:16 am
[...] http://www.insidedvdplay.com/codes/ for coupon [...]
November 29th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
To Miller: It is “only a buck”. Which makes me wonder what search criteria you used to find a site that says “Get Free DVD Rentals from DVDPlay” in the heading. Just a buck right? LOL. I wonder if you will come back to look for more “free” codes and see this. I can only assume by your post that you will not be back because you happened upon a free code site by mistake in the 1st place.

Promo Code: Go4Two
2 for 1 DVD rental
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:16 am
Why does it say Purpose….Free DVd Rental above when it is only 25c off?
December 3rd, 2008 at 3:33 pm
That is a very good point. Is there a way to make the “Purpose” field more accurate - like “Buy One, Get One Free” or “25c off”? Or does it always default to “Free DVD Rental”?
December 4th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
I tried all the codes in AZ but none of them work.

December 16th, 2008 at 11:28 am
Another FYI. The promo code JOY is RENT ONE GET ONE FREE. It’s a good deal if you’re looking to rent 2 movies on the same day. It worked for me today, 12-16-08, in California. COWS is also a RENT ONE GET ONE FREE code that worked for me on 12-09-08. For those of you that are just renting one movie at a time, WOW75 was sent to me via email directly from DVDPlay and is good for renting one movie for 75 cents . I do not think that there is a limit as to how many times you can use any of these codes, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I just tried WOW75 after 3 days of renting and this time today it said it was invalid..hmm im still searching for a new code.. I knew that code was only saving $0.25 but I felt sad when it didn’t work at all. I left the machine feeling robbed when I laughed cause I was trying to rob the machine instead.

I think some people are posting fake codes, and people like us are ending up trying them out in hopes of getting discount on rentals. Anyone else noticed it?
